Grandpas Breakfast

Overview: This is by far my favorite breakfast ever. My Grandpa makes this meal every time that we come to see him and it is splendid. Granted, you can't walk after you are done with the meal because you always eat to much but it is well worth it. You can make this for as many people as you want, you simply need to buy more of the ingredients and cut up more ham. It is a really simple and fast recipe to make but it does require some preparation time with cutting ham into chunks.

Caution:
Do not eat this before strenuous physical activity. Do not eat if you are currently on a strict diet.

Lime Light: I would like to thank my Grandpa for always making this meal when we come to visit it him. Its probably enough calories for your whole week but it sure is worth it.

Start out by doing all of the prep. work.

Get a ham and cut it into little chunks about the size of dimes and place in a bowl.
Sandwich ham does not really work for this.

Start your gravy cooking on the stove top.
I usually buy country gravy that has pepper in it.

Turn your oven onto the "Broil" setting.

Place bread on a cookie sheet closely together and place in the oven for less than a minute.
Take the sheet out and flip the bread.
The idea behind this is to toast the bread.
You could use a toaster but that would take too long.

Once the bread is toasted, remove the sheet from the oven.
If you like your food with a little zing then you can spread some canned green chili's on the toast.

Spread the chunks of ham on top of the toast.
Next pour the gravy on top of the ham. I usually like to smother my toast with the gravy but that is because I am from the south. YUM!

Then spread grated cheese on top of the gravy and place the cookie sheet back in the oven.
You are not cooking the toast but simply making it so that the cheese gets melted. Once the cheese is melted after less than a minute, pull the try out and serve to your hungry guests.

My Grandpa has served 5 - 30 family members and maybe more with this recipe.

Also, since this is all on toasted bread, it is okay to put them in the fridge or freezer for later and it will not get soggy.
